You can upload a photo, image, or picture to this wiki site for appropriate use on the site.

Image size

To display an efficient small image in this wiki, you do not have to upload a small image; the wiki software downsizes it for viewing automatically if you tell it to. Unless you really want the image to be only a small one (such as for an icon), it's better to upload a larger one that people can choose to view.

See "Using an image," below, for more info.

Uploading the image

To upload:

  1. Log in.
  2. Click Upload file in the left-side toolbox.
  3. In the Upload file page, use the Browse button to browse to your image on your system.
  4. Type a destination filename:
PLEASE note the instructions on choosing a destination filename!
  5. Type a brief summary description of what the image is or represents.
  6. Click Upload file.

Choosing a destination filename

Choose a unique filename (something that no one else is likely to want to use); e.g., "ColladaDOMarchitecture" or "BezierMatrixEquation".

  • Good examples: Physics-elements-relationship.jpg, DOMobjectModel.png, Category_example.png
  • Bad examples: screenshot.jpg, image27.png, diagram.jpg.

Using the image

To include the image in a page, use a link of one of the basic forms:

  • (this displays it at its original uploaded size)
  • . (this displays it at a predetermined "thumbnail" size, with a border and an optional caption; clicking on the image displays the image in its larger/original size.) You can also specify an optional pixel width; see example.
  • (this displays without the border, no caption, but again, clicking the image displays a larger size)

For example:

Additional information

You can also specify the image size and other attributes. For more information, refer to the Wikipedia article on WikiMedia extended image syntax.
